Yahoo Launches Social Gaming Network

Many observers would use the word 'finally!' when speaking of the launch of the new Yahoo! Games Network. The global internet corporation has announced the launch of the new Yahoo! games stating on their website that the new network would provide a platform for games developers in terms of distribution and also provide, "easy onboarding services that help them authentic players, monetise their games, provide social sharing, analytics and ongoing operational support for growth". Yahoo! are aiming for a mix of old and new and as well as attracting the cream of new games development talent they will also be offering their own games via the network, such as Yahoo Pool, Yahoo Poker and Yahoo Bingo.

The games will all be available to play on iOS and Android and general manager of Yahoo! Games Jesper Jenson says that, "We're already working with some of the best developers in the industry like Rumble Entertainment, DreamWorks, SGN, ChangYou, Namco Bandai America, Playtika, FlowPlay, Con Artist Games and many more on web and mobile. We plan to keep building out our platform with improvements and new features, providing not only a great experience for our millions of users, but also a cross-platform network for developers looking to reach the untapped gaming audience of Yahoo's 800 million users worldwide, including 400 million users on mobile." They have big plans for the games network and for a company the size of Yahoo! so they should have and will be entering a very competitive arena alongside Facebook, iTunes and Google Play.
