The UIGEA Law Will Not Be Repealed if a Republican Takes the White House
If you have been following our news about the UIGEA Law, you know that the one person who championed this cause, Congressman Barney Frank, is retiring. His bill to repeal the UIGEA Law has been put on the back burner, at least until after the November election. As we have also reported, most Republicans in the House and Senate are opposed to repealing this law so we don’t expect this bill to go to a vote anytime soon. So it is not surprising that three of the four Republican candidates running for President of the United States are also against Online Gambling, with the exception of Ron Paul. His entire candidacy is based on the notion that everyone should have the freedom to choose their own destiny. While this is all well and good, the chances of Paul winning the nomination are quite slim. As for the other three: Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, and Mitt Romney – neither one of them is for the legalization of online gambling. If one of them takes the White House, you can kiss online gambling goodbye!
Why You Should Vote for Barak Obama
If President Barak Obama wins a second term, there is a greater chance that this new legislation will pass as it looks more and more plausible that the Democrats would once again be in control of the House. Of course, that’s just one of the reasons why you should vote for him. There are many other reasons that we can go into, but we’ll save those for another day. The point we are trying to make is that traditionally, Republicans oppose online gambling and as we have seen throughout the course of the last three years, any bill that has been put forth by the Democrats have been voted down by their counterparts.
Oil and Water
Online gambling to the Republicans is like oil and water. They just don’t mix. While it appears that Mitt Romney may become the Republican candidate, this doesn’t mean that he will approve any bill for the legalization of online gambling if he becomes President. As a Mormon, it is not in his belief system to do so. While the conservative base is not crazy about Mitt Romney and the conservative establishment would rather have someone else run for President, they don’t have many choices. Even if Rick Santorum catches up to Romney in the caucus and primary elections, Mitt Romney has been deemed the front runner.
The Choice for the Legalization of Online Gambling is Yours To Make
If you want to see the UIGEA Law repealed, vote Democrat - both in the Presidential election and all local elections in November.
