Theme
A Big Catch: Hold & Win is visually arresting. The game takes place against an animated underwater background. We're smack dab in the heart of the ocean, featuring gorgeous fish and bubbling waters. To the left of the reel there's a fishing hook in the water and to the right of the game board you can see the burly, bearded fisherman in the background. On the animated reels, numerous fish and other aquatic creatures are visible. At the bottom of the slot, there's the control panel which features a spin and an auto spin feature, along with aquatic plant life peaking out from beneath the reels. The control panel will also open up the main menu and give you access to all of the game's features. Overall, the format is pretty standard for a Betsoft game, but the graphics were noticeably up to date and detailed. The top paying symbol is the fisherman himself, followed by the shark. The third highest paying symbol is the golden fish. There are also four fish symbols that land in the medium range in terms of value. There's a green, orange, red and blue fish. The lowest of the paying symbols are the J,K,A,Q and 10 symbols.
Special Features
During the Hold & Win feature, the bucket of fish is the bonus symbol, while the golden shark is the reset symbol. Six or more scatter symbols will trigger the Hold & Win feature, and the bonus symbols can come with jackpots attached to them. There a mini, minor, and major symbols, and the amount these symbols pay out ranges from 0.30 to 6.00 depending on the triggering bet. Bonus symbols that trigger the aforementioned symbol are locked in place and three respins are awarded. Every new bonus or reset symbol that appears on the reel will lock in place and reset the reels to three.
When the reset symbol appears, all values found on the bonus symbols are accumulated. When a new reset symbol appears, it'll collect all previous reset symbols along with all other bonus symbols. The multiplier will increase with each new reset symbol that appears, and can accumulate up to 5x. The feature will end when no respins remain or if you manage to lock all fifteen symbols on the reels, which results in the ultimate jackpot. The other way to accumulate special wins is through the wild symbol, which is depicted as a box of fishing hooks. The wild symbol appears only on reels two, three and four.
