This is not true, but a myth. People usually smoke in casinos that allow it. If oxygen were pumped into the air, it could be disastrous! Moreover, this would be totally illegal. What the casinos do is to ensure the site is very cool so that patrons stay awake and keep on gambling. Thus the air conditioning is turned up.
Fact or Fiction: Do Land-Based Casinos Pump Oxygen Into the Air?
According to sources, this is pure hogwash! If it were the case that land-based casinos were pumping oxygen into the air then we would have explosions all over the place in Las Vegas. According to the Las Vegas Fire Department ““pumping O2 into a casino would be a tremendous fire hazard that would greatly increase the flammability of all other objects. Any small fire, anywhere in the hotel, would be fanned and magnify itself by pumped oxygen.” Many people believe that this is fact; that the casinos do pump oxygen to keep patrons awake. This is untrue. Another source is quoted as saying that “In every state in the United States, it is illegal for an establishment to pump oxygen into the air ducts. All states enforce this law by threatening to take away a company's business license if it is found that they are doing this kind of act.”
Are there other means whereby land-based casinos use methods to keep their patrons awake?
In a recent report, it was noted that there are 10 ways in which land-based casinos try to keep their players awake. They are: No Clocks, No Windows, Use of Lights, Sounds, and Activity, the Ambience of a Casino, The Location of Services, Near Wins, Freebies, Alcohol, Offering Big Players Perks, and the Design of the Casino. All of these ploys to keep players playing make more sense than to pump 02 into the casino.
