What is the Heartland Poker Tour?

The Heartland Poker Tour is a continuous series of land based poker tournaments that take place all over the US and has been running since 2005. The big difference with Heartland Poker Tour events is that they are televised and screened across the world and to date there has been 9 seasons of one hour long episodes that are shown over the US, all over Europe and as far afield as the Middle East and the Caribbean. The beauty of the Heartland Poker Tour is that anyone can get into the events, and the buy ins for main events cost around $1,650, similar to that of World Series of Poker Circuit Events, however by playing in a Heartland Poker event you may catch a little of yourself on the small screen. You may also satellite into main events too, details of each event and a full schedule are available on their site.

The demand for poker on TV has meant that the Heartland Poker Tour has been a huge success and the amount of televised poker the show has delivered has grown since the tours inception back in 2005, and that growth seems set to continue. The HPT has also thrown out some spectacular one off shows which have seen many celebrities take to the felt and also works alongside the nonprofit group Disabled American Veterans. Getting involved and playing in an HPT event is a simple process, and many players from around the world do just that. You will simply need to visit their website and select an event from the tournament schedule, and you may either pre-register online or simply show up at the casino and register for the event. You'll need a players card, however that can be got a hold off as you register for the tournament, and you'll also need to sign a TV release form....just in case you make the televised final table! There's plenty more information on their great website and if you fancy a little live tournament action then the HPT provides a fantastic environment in which to do so.
