Since 2004, when the islands of Antigua and Barbados won a decision from the World Trade Organization that the US was violating the international treaty by passing a law that prohibited local companies from offering online gambling to Americans has rendered Antigua a big winner. In an announcement made last December, the Department of Justice stated that the US did not prohibit online gambling despite the fact that they continued to do so. Ongoing negotiations by Antigua in conjunction with the WTO will eventually yield fruitful results allowing Antigua and its neighboring islands to continue to provide online gambling service to US players.
