At first glance, the reports seem to suggest that the legislature is ready to vote on this bill. However, in order for this bill to succeed there are many provisions that have to be ironed out. These include tax rates; licensing fees; registration; and the restriction of competition via land cased casinos and online operators. The bill in question, SB900, states “to allow casinos to offer online gambling to players who live 20 miles away.” If the proposed provisions are not ironed out, we could see a repeat of many states that have proposed bills only to have them voted down in the end. We will keep you posted.
