Riverboat gambling will be a thing of the past in the Quad Cities area. The new Rhythm City Casino officially broke ground on Thursday, June 4th and is expected to open on the Memorial Day weekend in 2016.

Recently the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission gave Kehl’s Elite Casino Resorts approval for consolidation of Rhythm City, Grand Falls Casino & Golf Resort in Larchwood, and Riverside Casino & Golf Resort in Riverside under unified management. The Kehl family were pioneers of the riverboat casinos, they received the first of Iowa’s gambling licence during 1990.
Rhythm City is expecting employment to double to approximately 800 when it opens and the total number of employees for the three casino to be over 1,500 employees. The CEO of the company says that their company generates about $250 million in annual revenue and that they are the second largest producer in the state.
Bill, Gluba the mayor of Davenport said, this venture will lead to approximately $250 million in new tax for the city of Davenport, this is a record amount in a single area.
