nenAfter legal battle after legal battle, the land-based casino Tioga Downs has opened. Tioga Downs is located near the Pennsylvania border and is the first of four new casinos to open. The casino has 12 tables, 33 gaming tables consisting of roulette, craps, and blackjack. They also have a restaurant and an events center. There is a nearby hotel that is under construction, but will house 35 rooms. The opening of this new casino is due to the fact that New York voters passed Proposition One. This was in 2013. In 2014, however, they conceded to only four casinos, thereby giving Tioga Downs the boot. Through the intervention of Governor Cuomo, that Tioga was awarded a license to operate. The much needed revenue from this casino will be much welcomed, as well as the new jobs it will create.
